Doing the Right Thing

It really is as easy as it sounds.  The Right Thing is always apparent, especially when it comes to customer interaction and engagement.  Doing the Right Thing means aligning with the customer's goals and needs, and providing advice that is focused on the customer requirements and desired business outcomes.  By choosing what is best for the client over profits, we build trust, foster long-term relationships, and uphold our commitment to integrity and satisfaction. While sustaining our company is essential, our primary commitment is to solve our customers' problems, and Doing the Right Thing.

Here are several examples illustrating how NetraVine's commitment to Doing the Right Thing has contributed to its growth.

  • When faced with a critical issue, our customer was relying on older Cisco ASA firewalls with Firepower modules.  It was clear they needed an upgrade. NetraVine collaborated with Cisco and another VAR specializing in Palo Alto firewalls to identify the best product and pricing options.  Our team negotiated aggressively with Cisco to offer competitive pricing that surpassed Palo Alto's offerings. Despite minimizing our margin to ensure competitiveness, a pivotal question from the customer was directed at NetraVine's CEO, "Kenny, what firewall would you install for your organization?"  The answer was evident: Palo Alto firewalls.  That decision cost us a $500k deal, but it exemplified our commitment to Doing the Right Thing for the customer.  This act of integrity strengthened the relationship, leading to a longstanding partnership as a valued Team as a Service (TaaS) client.

  • A customer was facing the challenge of migrating a complex set of applications from an on premise data center to Amazon Web Services (AWS).  Their engineers had devised a complicated VxLAN solution involving Cisco and Linux products, traversing two firewalls en route to AWS. Our engineering team quickly identified issues with interoperability, firewall rules, and overall complexity, which raised operational concerns.

To address this, NetraVine's engineers collaborated with core product and development teams to devise a simpler solution using proxy-based technology included in a new version update, rather than VxLAN. How did we Do the Right Thing? We could have implemented the VxLAN solution for more consulting hours, but instead, we took the time to explore alternatives. We opted for a straightforward approach that aligned with our KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) methodology, prioritizing the customer's needs over potential revenue.

  • Our last example involves the collaboration with a large medical group to conduct a comprehensive People, Process, and Technology review. The organization was poised to grow and the CEO wanted to ensure their IT could support their ambitious strategies, and prepare for an upcoming OCHIN Epic implementation. To accomplish this task, NetraVine deployed their experts from the Seal Team to assess the client's infrastructure, develop as-built documentation, and create detailed people and technology budgets and roadmaps. Doing the Right Thing for this customer included delivering the hard truth about their current IT state and building a three year technology roadmap to secure future success. We did this through providing our TaaS solution, which included a Virtual Chief Technology Officer (vCTO), Project Management, and certified engineering resources. This partnership has now flourished for over two and a half years.

In summary, for every customer interaction, we prioritize Doing the Right Thing by aligning technology solutions with business requirements. We use common-sense approaches, leveraging engineering expertise and vendor products that adhere to the KISS principle for operational simplicity. Throughout this process, we embrace our passion for technology, which is ultimately why we love what we do.
